Help Protect 1,000 Years of History
Lincoln Cathedral is one of the finest Gothic buildings in the world, but its preservation depends on ongoing support. The Friends of Lincoln Cathedral is a registered charity that exist to support its ongoing care and preservation, ensuring that this remarkable building continues to inspire generations to come.
We would like to invite you to become a Friend or make a donation, so you can join us in playing a direct role in safeguarding its future.
Why Lincoln Cathedral Matters

Lincoln Cathedral is one of England’s most important historic buildings.
For more than two centuries, it was the tallest structure in the world, a remarkable achievement of medieval craftsmanship and ambition. Its walls hold centuries of history, from royal connections and civil conflict to everyday marks left by those who lived and worshipped here.
The Cathedral is also closely linked to the story of the Magna Carta, with one of the original copies preserved just next door at Lincoln Castle, placing Lincoln at the heart of a document that helped shape democracy around the world.
Today, the Cathedral remains a living building, not just a monument to the past, but a place of worship, community, and cultural significance.
Our Role as The Friends
The Friends of Lincoln Cathedral support the ongoing care of this extraordinary building.
Through fundraising and donations, we help ensure that it continues to stand strong, not only as a monument to the past, but as a place that can be experienced and enjoyed for generations to come.
